Adelaide locals will be able to play ‘spot the mo’ this November as public transport vehicles sprout moustaches as part of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and Adelaide Metro’s Movember campaign.
In a statement, DIT said 20 Adelaide Metro buses and 20 trams – and four marine safety boats – would sport moustaches throughout Movember, in support of men’s health.
Teaming up with the Movember Foundation, the Department said the initiative was aimed at raising awareness for the cause and prompting South Australians to ask ‘where’s the mo?’
The Department said the Movember partnership began in 2018 with one moustache on a tram and continued to grow with each whisker of support from the public, this year introducing marine mos.
In a statement, Adelaide Metro said supporting Movember could inspire conversations, encourage donations and bring about real change for men’s health and wellbeing.
“Take a photo of a moustached tram, bus or boat and post it to social media with the hashtag #AdelaideMetMo or #MarineMo and the reason why you’re getting behind Movember,” it said.
“Please remember to stay on the footpath or platform, and behind the white line when taking photos, and always wear a lifejacket when out on the water.”
The Agency said that while Movember aimed to raise awareness of men’s physical and mental health, mental health struggles were not always easily seen.
“Reach out to your mates to ask them how they are travelling and really listen to them,” it said.
