Sport Australia is to launch a new podcast to help boost sporting experiences across the whole sports sector.

Sport Australia (SA) said the first series of the podcast would focus on the recently released Sport Governance Principles.

“The Sport Australia Podcast will kick off on 9 September with a 10-part series aimed at helping Australia’s sporting leaders – many of them volunteers – face the current challenges of COVID-19 and to build a stronger sporting future through governance,” SA said

“Focused on bringing the Sport Governance Principles to life, sporting leaders will share their experiences and practical advice for those helping to run our thousands of sporting clubs,” it said.

“The first few episodes will feature interviews with Richmond AFL President Peggy O’Neal, Commonwealth Games Australia president Ben Houston and Olympic gold medallist Petria Thomas.”

The SA said the podcast series built on the success of recent webinars for the Sport Governance Principles which attracted more than 630 attendees across the country.

“Sport Australia intends expanding the podcast to provide tips, tools and real life experiences for all involved in Australian sport, talking participation, coaching, administration, officiating, volunteering and more,” it said.

It said the podcast would be available from tomorrow (9 September) across popular digital services including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify, as well as on the Sport Australia website.
