The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has partnered with the State Government to provide interactive learning resources to support remote learning by primary school students.

Minister for Education, James Merlino announced that the first set of 15 learning activities were screening on ABC ME this week and had been added to the Government’s new Learning from Home website.

In a statement, Mr Merlino said the activities for English, Mathematics, Science and Geography had been designed for primary school students and were aligned to the Victorian Curriculum.

“Teachers will be able to use these resources to assist in delivering remote learning,” Mr Merlino said.

“Students will be able to watch programs on TV via ABC ME or online via ABC iview, and then complete learning activities linked to the programs.”

He said almost all Victorian students were learning from home during Term 2 to increase physical distancing and slow the spread of coronavirus.

“Partnering with ABC to provide learning materials via TV will give students a new way to learn and help keep them engaged as they learn from home,” the Minister said.

He said Victorian schools had been using both online and offline education materials that could be completed by students at home.
