Oxford Landing vineyard in the Riverland
One of the country’s most affordable wine brands, Oxford Landing, has been given a fresh new look reflecting its home on the Murray River.
A logo depicting the sun over the water, along with colours inspired by the landscape, give a new face to a range that has been consistently delivering for 30+ years.
Each of the six varietals in the range has a different coloured label inspired by the native vegetation, soil, sun, river, and sky surrounding Oxford Landing’s Riverland home.
With a recommended price of $13 (and often found cheaper), the wines over-deliver against consumer expectations. Undoubtedly, this plays a big part in why they are so popular with Aussie consumers and how successful they’ve become in a global market.
The late Wyndham Hill-Smith (or Wyndy as he was known to mates) founded Oxford Landing in 1958. Back then, the grapes were planted for fortified wine and brandy production. Wyndy’s decision to plant Cabernet Sauvignon was a game changer – at the time, it was one of the larger single vineyard plantings of Cabernet in South Australia.

Wyndy’s son Robert Hill-Smith launched the Oxford Landing wine brand in 1990, and in the decades since, the commitment has always been to produce sustainable, affordable, quality wines.
In keeping with its sustainability ethos, a few other changes have been made in conjunction with the visual changes. The range has moved to a lighter 420-gram glass bottle and 100% recyclable cartons.
Included in the range are a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Shiraz, Shiraz, and Merlot. All the wines are vegan.
Oxford Landing 2022 Chardonnay, $13: A full-flavoured Chardonnay with typical stonefruit and melon flavours. Hints of lemon and grapefruit give it a bit of zing, and there’s a slight toastiness for added character.
Oxford Landing 2021 Cabernet Shiraz, $13: A quintessential Aussie blend, quite savoury, harmonious and smooth, with blackberry flavours and a hint of tobacco.
Oxford Landing 2019 Shiraz, $13: Richly flavoured with notes of cherries, plums and blueberries, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. So easy to drink and very versatile with a whole range of dishes.
