ACT Health has joined with Icon Water to launch a new initiative to encourage members of the community to remain hydrated in Canberra’s hot weather and beyond.
‘Refill Canberra’ has been set up to make it easier for people to stay healthy by filling their drink bottles at local businesses and organisations taking part in the program.
ACT Health’s Director of Preventive and Population Health, Emily Harper joined Icon Water’s Managing Director, Ray Hezkial to formally launch the program.
“Canberrans (have) some of the best quality water in Australia,” Mr Hezkial said.
“Water straight from the tap is the healthiest way to stay hydrated this summer.”
He said ‘Refill Canberra’ would see local cafes, shops and venues happy to provide tap water to fill water bottles while people were out and about.
“Being able to refill on the go means you can always have a supply of Canberra’s top drop with you,” he said.
Ms Harper said the launch of ‘Refill Canberra’ was a timely reminder to Canberrans to stay hydrated and healthy.
“We need to drink at least 2–3 litres of water every day – especially in the heat of summer,” Ms Harper said.
“By carrying your own water bottle you can be sure of having water on hand.”
She said the nearest participating Refill Canberra venue could be found by visiting the program’s website or by looking for stickers on shop doorways.
“Refill Canberra venue staff will be happy to refill your bottle with clean, fresh Canberra water,” she said.
