New Finance course easy as PGPA

The Department of Finance has launched a new eLearning program to assist newcomers to the Australian Public Service (APS) understand their responsibilities under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the PGPA Act.

The online course is a self-learning tool, aimed at empowering new starters to the APS with the knowledge to understand and work with the framework and PGPA Act.

Finance said the program was available on the LearnHub platform and for entities wishing to incorporate it into their Learning Management System a SCORM 1.2 compliant file was available.

The new program is part of the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework which oversees how officials in the Commonwealth public sector use and manage public resources.

“The cornerstone of this framework is the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013,” Finance said.

The learning program is divided into four modules with module one dealing with the PGPA Act, the structure of the Commonwealth public sector, risk management, planning and performance.

Module two covers the responsibilities of Commonwealth officials, their duties and obligations under the finance laws and personal interests.

Module three summarises the responsibilities of officials in relation to the use of public resources and Module 4 the spending of money.

Finance said that for optimal learning experience, it encouraged users to launch the program with the Google Chrome browser.
