New DTA framework to boost data protection

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has launched a dedicated Hosting Certification Framework website, with the overall aim of supporting the Australian Government’s commitment to data security.

In a statement supporting the launch, the DTA said service providers and Government customers would be able to find support on the processes needed to secure high-value Government data by referring to the Hosting Certification Framework website.

“Under the Framework, all high-value Government data, whole-of-Government systems, and systems rated at the classification level of ‘Protected’ should be hosted within certified data centre facilities and by Certified Service Providers by 30 June 2022,” it said.

“The website also helps service providers by clearly outlining and simplifying the Hosting Certification application and maintenance processes.”

The statement said that, for the first time, service providers would be in a position to easily access all relevant information and policies that guide the Framework and, at the same time, register for certification online.

“The website lists all certified providers under the Framework and helps connect them with Government customers,” it said.

Further information about the Hosting Certification Framework and the registration process can be accessed on the DTA website at this PS News link.
