Public Servants helping women and children at the highest risk of serious harm or death from domestic violence are to be able to share information quickly, easily and securely with the launch of a new Department of Human Services (DHS) portal.
Launching its Family Safety Portal (FSP), DHS’s Office for Women said the Portal offered a highly secure digital environment for use by Police, Health, Child Protection and other Government and non-Government Agencies to share vital information and develop coordinated strategies to reduce the risk of harm from domestic, family and sexual violence.
“The new digital platform will make it easier for them to assess risk and make referrals to a Family Safety Meeting in a confidential online environment,” the Office said in a statement.
The Office said the Portal would be piloted in three South Australian regions from 14 June, with a full Statewide rollout by the end of the year.
It said the Portal was created to provide an easily accessible, highly secure environment for Agency workers to conduct risk assessments and refer cases to Family Safety Meetings; give workers involved in Family Safety Meetings a place to share information and collaborate; and enable Family Safety Meetings to occur online, in a digitally secure environment.
The Office said the Portal would replace paper-based risk assessments and paper-based referrals to Family Safety Meetings.
It said the Portal could be used to conduct risk assessments of those at risk; refer people to a Family Safety Meeting; manage Family Safety Meeting participation; and interact and share information with other organisations.
The Office said the Portal should be used by the organisations that helped people at risk of serious violence and included South Australia Police; Department for Child Protection; SA Housing Authority; Department of Human Services; Department for Correctional Services; SA Health; Adult Mental Health Services SA; Drug and Alcohol Services SA; Department for Education SA; and Women’s Domestic Violence Services.
