The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) has launched an online directory to help Victoria’s public sector workers to access evidence-based information and improve outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and families.

Launching its directory Menu of Evidence the Department said it provided searchable and independent information on evidence-based practices and programs that had been demonstrated to improve outcomes for children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability.

“[The Menu] allows users to navigate programs by what matters to them, including the outcomes they are working to achieve, who they work with and their context,” DFFH said.

“The Menu is underpinned by a rigorous assessment process and contains evidence behind 45 programs across the areas of child maltreatment and family preservation and reunification.”

It said the Menu provided essential information for decision making, including information on effectiveness, implementation, cost and whether programs had been evaluated with Aboriginal children, young people, families and carers.

The Department said the new directory could be accessed by everyone – “you don’t need to work in the children and families sector to check it out”.

It said that along with a search feature the Menu allows users to filter information by evidence rating, topics, pathways, outcome domain, target group, and Australian and/or international evidence.

DFFH’s Menu of Evidence can be accessed at this PS News link.
