New city plan to mark recovery

The City Renewal Authority has announced that a new plan is to be developed to invigorate Canberra’s city centre and benefit property owners, businesses and the community.

It invited Canberrans to participate in a survey to help it understand better how to help the city centre recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“An unprecedented summer bushfire season followed by the COVID-19 pandemic have heavily impacted many Canberran property owners, businesses, staff, inner-city residents and customers,” the Authority said.

“It’s fair to say it has been a difficult year so far,” it said.

“The Authority is developing a plan for the city precinct throughout 2020/21.”

It said public input in the survey would enable it to understand better the challenges faced and maximise the ways it can help the city centre recover as effectively as possible from COVID-19.

The Authority said survey participants would go into the draw to win vouchers for some of the facilities in the city centre.

It said the survey asks participants to rank the most important priorities to invigorate the Civic and Braddon area and how they thought the City Centre Marketing and Improvement funds could be used to brighten the city as COVID-19 restrictions eased.

The survey can be accessed at this PS News link.
