The City Renewal Authority has brought the creative knowledge of national institutions to the streets of the City Centre in the form of a large box.
Announcing the installation of STORYBOX Canberra, Chief Executive of the Authority, Malcolm Snow said STORYBOX showcased the creative knowledge of the city and revealed moments of inspiration that had shaped Canberra’s constant evolution.
“Centred around a giant two-square-metre digital cube in Garema Place, and a series of digital plinths throughout the City West precinct, STORYBOX will invite Canberrans to reflect on different kinds of creative intelligence,” Mr Snow said.
“STORYBOX has created a unique opportunity for us to connect to all types of creatives in our community, from our Capital’s national institutions to grassroots creators and makers,” he said.
“It’s important that we celebrate local talent and we look forward to seeing their content come to life in this digital format.”
Mr Snow said that until 30 September, the diverse and engaging program of content would be regularly updated from partners including the National Gallery of Australia, National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, Australian National University, Craft ACT, the National Museum of Australia and Canberra Museum and Gallery.
“The digital cube and plinths will feature digital videos, photos, painting, drawing and building using a variety of materials, giving Canberrans a ‘behind closed doors’ insight into the creative development process or ‘flow’ of creators,” he said.
