The new chief executive of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand, retired air force officer Steve ‘Zed’ Roberton, has left the position after only six weeks in the job.
Air Vice-Marshal Steve Roberton (Ret’d) was named as the new CEO last September, and took over the role on 2 December 2024 after a handover period.
He succeeded another former air force senior officer, Air Marshal (Ret’d) Warren ‘Macca’ McDonald who had served as CEO since November 2021.
Despite previously announcing his retirement, AIRMSHL McDonald has now returned to the role.
In a brief statement, Lockheed Martin Australia said AVM Roberton had resigned from the company “for personal reasons”.
It added, “effective 16 January 2025, Warren ‘Macca’ McDonald was named Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand, returning to a role he previously held for over three years.
“Under Macca’s leadership, the company will continue delivering innovative defence capabilities for Australia and New Zealand, keeping our customers ahead of emerging threats in this critical region.”
The company didn’t say whether AIRMSHL McDonald’s return was an interim measure in lieu of a more permanent appointment.
