New and upgraded carparks are set to improve accessibility and safety at train stations across regional Victoria, according to the Minister for Public Transport, Ben Carroll.

Mr Carroll said 440 new and upgraded spaces would be built at Kyneton, Gisborne, Riddells Creek, North Shore and Beaufort stations.

“The new and upgraded car parks will help regional Victorians access their local station and significantly improve safety with lighting and CCTV,” Mr Carroll said.

“Once the works are complete, Bendigo Line passengers will benefit from 200 car parking spaces, including additional accessible car parking, and 35 new bicycle hoops,” he said.

“One hundred spaces will be upgraded at Gisborne Station, which includes four accessible spaces, and 50 new spaces will be built at both Kyneton and Riddells Creek stations including accessible spaces.”

Mr Carroll said 200 new and upgraded spaces would be delivered at North Shore Station, while Beaufort Station was to gain 40 new spaces, including two new accessible spaces, and 15 new bicycle hoops.

The Minister said all the new and upgraded car parks would be covered by CCTV and lighting for safety and security.

He said the construction contract had been awarded to civil construction company Ace Infrastructure, which had constructed car parks at Sandown Park, Hurstbridge and Castlemaine.
