Canberra commuters may be taking a different route to work this year with Transport Canberra to implement new bus timetables on 30 January.
Releasing the new timetables, the Directorate said the changes would ensure reliable services across the network.
It said the new timetables took into account construction associated with raising London Circuit in the city, the temporary Woden bus interchange and ongoing works in the Woden town centre.
“It will also utilise the full Transport Canberra bus fleet and driver resources and reflect the new travel behaviours of Canberrans due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Transport Canberra said.
“The construction of light rail to Woden – together with the concurrent delivery of other major public and private infrastructure projects – will change how Canberrans access our city centre for years to come,” it said.
“With construction impacting on how people travel through the city and Woden, we will keep you informed about impacts to public transport routes and active travel connections both in and out of the city.”
Transport Canberra said the timetables would also cater for changed traffic conditions due to construction work, including accessing the city centre via new traffic lights on Vernon Circle/Constitution Avenue, and relocating bus services to new platforms in the temporary Woden interchange.
“These adjustments will mean customers can confidently use bus services and are not waiting for buses that do not arrive,” it said.
“Transport Canberra will continue to make improvements into the future as works progress and the impacts to our road and public transport networks evolve.”
