The Government-owned company building Western Sydney Airport, WSA Co. has invited registrations of interest to build a visitor centre on the construction site.
The new Centre will be designed to allow interested members of the public to keep tabs on the project and watch the airport unfold in front of their eyes.
WSA Co. said the visitor centre would include a construction viewing area and interactive exhibition.
Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities, Paul Fletcher said the community should be able to see what was happening on site as the terminal and runway took shape.
“This will also be an important facility as the Australian and NSW Governments, together with Western Sydney Councils, work together to attract international and Australian businesses to locate in Western Sydney,” Mr Fletcher said.
Assistant Minister for Finance, David Coleman said the visitor centre would also include an immersive experience that would tell the story of Western Sydney Airport and the benefits it would bring to the region, particularly in terms of jobs.
“It’s exciting to think some of the students who come to the visitor centre on school excursions may one day be working at the Airport,” Mr Coleman said.
WSA Co. said the registration of interest also includes building office space for airport delivery staff near the visitor centre, which will be located off Eaton Road, in the north western area of the airport site.
Work on the visitor centre is due to start this year, with doors to open in mid 2019.
