The National Capital Authority (NCA), which is custodian of the National Triangle in Canberra that houses Parliament and a range of national institutions, has published its 2018-19 Corporate Plan.
Chair of the Authority, Terry Weber said that within the National Triangle, people were connected to some of the nation’s most important cultural, political and judicial institutions and symbols.
He said as the custodian of the space, the NCA was committed to strategies that strengthened and protected it as a national landscape in ways that embraced Australia’s heritage, values and aspirations.
“The NCA works closely with the Australian Capital Territory Government to support their aspirations for a sustainable and liveable city while ensuring the character of the National Capital and the effectiveness with which National Capital functions can be fulfilled,” Mr Weber said.
He said the NCA’s key strategic objectives for the period 2018-to-22 could be summed up as enabling Australians and visitors to celebrate and share the story of the nation through the National Capital; excellence in the care and custodianship of the special and symbolic places; and strategic planning and oversight of the places and spaces of national importance.
He said the Commission’s key priorities included ensuring the safety and amenity of NCA-managed assets; securing the financial basis for long-term asset renewal and replacement; and forging new partnerships and collaboration to help achieve its objectives.
