Australian citizens using the myGov website set new records in July, logging onto the service 39 million times.
Minister for Government Services, Stuart Robert welcomed the records, saying the busiest July day recorded more than 1.8 million logins, a number 60 per cent higher than last year.
Mr Robert said July also saw around 25 million transactions made through myGov per day, more than doubling the 12 million daily transactions for the same time last year.
“Behind the 39 million digital logins, there are everyday Australians accessing Government services at a time and place of their choosing, without queuing up in a shopfront or at the end of a phone line,” Mr Robert said.
“In those important moments when Australians reach out for Government services, like tax time, they expect a simple, seamless and secure interaction.”
He said the results proved that the Department of Human Services was making good progress in that direction.
“The approach to simplifying Government services is to put Australians in the driver’s seat, so they can access services on their terms, and these results demonstrate millions of people are seeing the benefits,” Mr Robert said.
He said more than 9.7 million people have now linked their ATO online account to myGov with more than one million people doing it this in July alone.
“The introduction of Single Touch Payroll saw a majority of people receiving their payment summaries through myGov, further simplifying the individual tax return process,” Mr Robert said.
