The Australian Museum in Sydney has announced a new lunchtime lecture series featuring six of Australia’s most successful leaders.
They include Academy Award–winning filmmaker George Miller, media trailblazer Ita Buttrose (pictured), and surfing champion Layne Beachley.
The Museum said the line-up also features explorer and philanthropist Dick Smith, Google Maps founder and engineer Noel Gordon and environmentalist, author and Director and Chief Executive of the Australian Museum, Kim McKay.
It said the speakers all featured in the 200 Treasures of the Australian Museum permanent exhibition and each had helped shape modern Australia.
“The lunchtime lecture series will celebrate what it means to be Australian and will give audiences an opportunity to ask questions,” Ms McKay said.
“From publishing to philanthropy, mapping to movies and beyond, the public are invited to hear the radical imaginations, passion, humour and knowledge of these Australians, who will share their unique experiences with curious audiences.”
She said Australia had a rich history filled with visionaries, activists, entrepreneurs and explorers.
“I am thrilled to be included with these notable personalities who will provide valuable insights to their careers as well as stimulate discussion about current issues impacting us all,” Ms McKay said.
The lunchtime lecture series runs from 21 August to 25 September.
