Veterans SA has introduced a second career mentoring program to support the State’s military veterans, following a pilot program that was a success in 2021.
Applications for a Career and Business Mentoring Program are now open.
According to Veterans SA, applications for the Career and Business Mentoring Program offered participants the ability to choose from two program streams, Career and Skills Development or Entrepreneurship and Business Development.
The Agency said the pilot program saw many positive outcomes for its participants including chances to gain meaningful employment, scholarship and grant successes; the expansion of professional networks; as well as increased confidence and improved understanding of self-worth.
The Minister for Veterans Affairs, Geoff Brock said the Veterans SA Career & Business Mentoring Program was a fantastic opportunity to support those who served to succeed professionally.
“I encourage anyone who fits the eligibility criteria and is looking for help in navigating career changes, career or business planning or professional skill development to apply to be part of this rewarding program,” Mr Brock said.
Veterans SA announced it had expanded the eligibility criteria for mentee participants to include any person who is or has served in the ADF as well as their partners.
Director of Veterans SA, Chantelle Bohan, said the pilot program in 2021 saw many fantastic outcomes, and she was excited to offer more opportunities to members of the veterans community this year.
“The expansion of the program to include partners of current and former serving ADF members was an important step to take, as this group of people can sometimes face challenges determining what career path to take due to the unique nature of service and its impact on families,” Ms Bohan said.
The program is to run from June to November this year, with applications closing 11 May.
