Using public transport in Adelaide is to become easier with the launch of Adelaide Metro’s new tool which allows people to purchase and recharge their day passes online.

Announced by Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Corey Wingard, Adelaide Metro’s metroCARD function was now available online with customers able to recharge and view the balance and history of 14-day and 28-day passes.

Mr Wingard said viewing the balance of other pass-based products such as Singletrip and Daytrip tickets and Seniors Cards was also available.

“The 14-day and 28-day passes are very popular options that save Adelaide Metro passengers hundreds of dollars each year, but up until now these passes were only available for purchase at metroCARD agents, recharge machines, over the phone or at the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre,” Mr Wingard said.

“The introduction of the online recharge option is a big win for customers and will make public transport even easier to use.”

He said the new online recharge option was developed following feedback from public transport users.

“Customers have been calling for an online payment option to be introduced and we have delivered, highlighting our commitment to modernising and improving our public transport system for all users,” he said.

The Minister said recent audits conducted on buses and trams had also found excellent levels of customer service.

“We have been undertaking ‘mystery shopper’-type audits across the seven bus and tram contract areas and the results have been excellent,” he said.

Mr Wingard said independent audits of ‘Driver Quality and Vehicle Presentation’ showed bus and tram operators achieved an overall combined score of at least 99%, exceeding the benchmark of 95% and performance target of 98% for the Key Performance Indicator.
