The Department of Education says the new National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Job Matching Service is to be rolled out over the next few months.
The Department said the service would support disability sector address skills and recruitment needs while connecting job-seekers with employment opportunities.
“National Disability Services (NIS), an industry body representing non-Government disability service providers, will work with NDIS service providers to identify their workforce needs,” the Department said.
Minister for Education and Training, Sue Ellery said the move would also help NDIS service providers navigate the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
“Job-seekers interested in working in disability services will be connected with quality VET options. The NDS will also seek to engage and skill people with disability for careers in disability services,” Ms Ellery said.
“Other services will include identifying courses and training opportunities for existing workers to improve skills and help employers access available incentives.”
She said this was an “end-to-end service”, working with employers to address their organisational needs while connecting people to jobs.
“We are also improving client outcomes, ensuring people with disability receive the services they need and supporting the disability sector when it needs it most,” Ms Ellery said.
Minister for Disability Services, Stephen Dawson said the strategy was an important part of overall forward planning and preparedness to meet the workforce needs of the NDIS in Western Australia.
“We continue to work closely with industry to identify skills priorities and support job creation in Western Australia,” Mr Dawson said.
