The Malaysian Government has instructed all Secretaries-General of Ministries to submit a report on the attendance percentage of their officers every Friday before noon.
In a statement, the Public Service Department (PSD) said the measure was aimed at ensuring the 20 per cent attendance of Public Servants at their officers.
“The maximum attendance of 20 per cent at the office is allowed only for work that requires office presence, including payment counters or involving classified documents,” the Department said.
The PSD said the 20 per cent attendance rule didn’t include front-line staff and workers who had been re-assigned to certain Agencies.
Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali recently announced that Government offices would operate in a hybrid manner, involving attendance at the office and working from home, during the implementation of the pandemic-inspired Movement Control Order.
The hybrid operation would involve a rotation basis with a 20 per cent attendance at the office, not including front-line services, while another 80 per cent would work from home.
Those who work at the office must wear face masks at all times, especially in public areas such as in elevators, lobbies and parking lots.
Tan Sri Mohd said Public Servants working from home were strictly prohibited from carrying out personal matters during working hours without the permission of Department heads.
“Any misconduct in compliance with the working from home order shall be subject to disciplinary action,” Tan Sri Mohd said.
