The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning has called for public comment on a draft management plan for the Barwon coastline.
The Barwon Coast Committee of Management prepared a Draft Coastal and Marine Management Plan 2020-2025 (CMMP) for the coastal Crown Land Reserve, around Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads, between eastern Collendina and the western end of Thirteenth Beach.
The Committee said the CMMP described a long-term vision for the Barwon coastline that reflected community aspirations and policy directions for marine and coastal management.
“The natural environment of our coastline will flourish whilst meeting the needs of our engaged communities,” the Committee said.
“The CMMP outlines a set of guiding principles and ten-year objectives for the long-term management of the Reserve,” it said.
The Committee said the “three pillars of the CMMP” were: natural and cultural values; planning and integration; and sustainable use and enjoyment.
It said it was inviting feedback in the Draft CMMP until 10 January 2020 and would hold two public listening posts where people could ask questions of Committee staff and receive information on the engagement and how to contribute.
The Committee said both listening posts would be held this Sunday (7 December) at Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads.
The 76-page plan as well as further information on the listening posts can be accessed at this PS News link.
