West Australians will have their first chance to see the world-famous Lightscape interactive experience once it is installed in Kings Park in time for the winter season.
According to WA Botanic Garden, Lightscape will transform it into a winter wonderland of light, colour and sound, immersing visitors in an inspiring, after-dark journey along a 1.8-kilometre trail from 16 June to 30 July.
In a statement, the Botanic Garden said the Lightscape spectacular, which has captivated millions in cities across the world, has been seen only once before in Australia.
“After wowing sell-out audiences in the United Kingdom and the United States, it made its Australian debut in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens this year to rave reviews,” the Botanic Garden said.
“From the 100,000 tiny, twinkling illuminations of the Winter Cathedral, to the brilliant colours of the Neon Night Gardens with their jumbo-sized floral light sculptures, Lightscape is a masterpiece of light, sound and colour for young and old.”
The Botanic Garden said there would be a number of unique features with a Western Australian twist developed with input from local artists.
“First developed for botanic gardens 10 years ago at England’s world-famous Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, Lightscape has captivated global audiences,” the Botanic Garden said.
“More than two million people experienced Lightscape across the world in the 2021 season alone,” it said.
