Canberra Metro has commenced a two-week schedule of night repairs along sections of its light rail track between Dickson and Gungahlin.
According to the Agency, travellers using light rail will not be affected for the first week, with works commencing nightly following the last evening service.
The network will be affected however for five nights from Sunday 26 January to Thursday 30 January.
During this week, Canberra Metro said bus services would replace evening light rail services between the two suburbs.
It said the works would help to maintain the rail infrastructure at its highest standard and ensure light rail continues to operate at peak performance.
“Some construction noise is expected,” it said.
“Canberra Metro has strategies in place to minimise impacts where possible.”
“The project team will ensure the number of machines operating at the same time is limited and equipment is turned off when not in use.”
Canberra Metro has distributed a notice to nearby residents to advise them of the works taking place.
“We appreciate the patience of the public and the support of the community whilst undertaking these works,” it said.
