The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is marking Library and Information Week 2021 (17-23 May) with a range of community events and activities.
CIT said the theme for this year’s Week, Adventures in Space and Time, encouraged people to explore what adventures their library contained.
“Libraries are places of adventure,” the CIT said.
“People who connect with libraries take a journey, whether it’s in search of specific information, browsing through new collections, or coming together with others to learn,” it said.
“This year, Australia is celebrating libraries in outer space by sending actual books to a space station!”
The CIT said people would have the opportunity to hear an astronaut read to over a million children in Australia this week.
It said CIT Library could help people explore ideas and learn about other places around the world.
“Why not see what adventures your library contains for you,” it said.
“To start just drop in and meet the staff at your CIT Library and have a chat about your studies and find out what is on offer,” it said.
