Users of the services provided by Libraries ACT have been urged to use today’s Valentine’s Day to let the libraries know they love them.

Director of Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little said the Territory’s libraries offered many services and opportunities to relax, learn and keep connected with the community.

“Every year we promote Library Lovers’ Day (LLD) as a chance for the community to spread the love on why the library is so special to them,” Ms Little said.

“There are many reasons to love our libraries, whether it is borrowing a book or movie, downloading music or a magazine, reading the daily paper or just keeping cool out of the heat and checking emails.”

She said today’s LLD featured the launch of the 2019 reading challenge, encouraging Canberrans to give their reading a kick start with some new reading inspiration.

We’d also love to hear what you love about libraries or what book or DVD you’ve had a crush on recently,” Ms Little said.

“Library Lovers’ Day is not the only great event on this month. Along with our regular programs such as Giggle and Wiggle and bilingual story time, there are a number of programs.”

She said that from mid-February there would be a four-week program aimed at parents and children to explore a range of tasty, healthy foods with Nutrition Australia ACT. This would be at Kippax, Gungahlin and Tuggeranong branches.

Ms Little said the Children’s Sanctuary at the National Multicultural Festival would be at the Civic Library on Saturday (16 February) with a smorgasbord of language -filled activities.
