Missing the target
Editor,
As a young female professional trying to navigate my career I am really offended that the article by Jack Zenger made it into the “Women in Leadership” section of the news summary.
I thought the title alone was poor and on reading the article it was confirmed as inappropriate for the target audience.
Especially the idea that I need to “Radiate optimism and general happiness” (or as another colleague has been previously told to be more “bubbly” is very) damaging and perpetuates language that is used to describe professional women that would never be applied to a professional male.
I find I am most confident and powerful when I can carry my ideas through with determination, knowledge and a strategy.
As a news feed to a lot of PS readers I am disappointed that this article would not have been flagged as inappropriate before distribution.
