Transport Canberra and City Services’ commercial business unit, Capital Linen Service has announced that it supported the Ronald McDonald House charity last financial year by donating $15,000 worth of linen.

The Service has run the laundry facility since 2004, with staff who work seven days a week to sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute around 130 tonnes of linen each week.

General Manager of Capital Linen Service, Daniel Childs said it was the only large-scale laundry in the ACT region.

“We service hospitals, health and aged care providers, hotels, restaurants, major tourist attractions, educational institutions and emergency services,” Mr Childs said.

“Our facility has large-scale washing machines which can continually process up to 1,500 kg per hour, contributing to our staff laundering around 10 million items of linen each year for more than 100 customers across the Territory.”

He said the Service catered for more than 200 different types of products, ranging from sterile theatre linen to table cloths and blankets.

“In the 2017–18 financial year, Capital Linen Service donated more than $15,000 worth of linen to Ronald McDonald House,” Mr Childs said.

“This included bath mats and towels, face washers, hand towels, pillow cases, single sheets and more.”

Capital Linen Service operates as a commercial business unit within the Directorate and provides linen and laundry services looking after health, hospitality and community customers in the ACT region.
