ACT Labor has committed itself to improving local shopping centres, increasing tourism, and creating jobs through school expansion and development if re-elected in this month’s ACT Legislative Assembly election.
Leader of ACT Labor, Andrew Barr said a re-elected Labor Government would create hundreds of jobs through new and expanded schools in Canberra’s south.
“Families in the growing regions of Canberra’s Inner South and the Woden Valley will continue to have access to great local schools, with a re-elected ACT Labor Government creating and protecting around 1,200 jobs through a program of new and expanded schools,” Mr Barr said.
“We have a comprehensive plan to grow our employment base to more than 250,000 local jobs by 2025,” he said.
Mr Barr said the $33 million stage one renewal of Narrabundah College would commence in the next term of Government if his party was re-elected.
“Labor Government will also commence consultation and planning for new and expanded schools in the Woden Valley,” he said.
He said his party would also allocate over $22 million to upgrading shopping centre precincts across the city over the next four years.
“This will include upgrades at local shops in Campbell, Narrabundah, Kaleen South, Duffy, Evatt, Macquarie, Monash, Calwell, Lanyon and Cooleman court.”
Mr Barr said his party would also allocate up to $3 million over four years for tourism marketing partnerships to attract more direct domestic flights to Canberra.
