It’s good to see this spin-off from the Bad Boys film franchise with two strong female leads. While the stories may be predictable, it’s the need to know the past of the two women that adds intrigue and the draw card to persevere.
The police drama centres on Sydney ‘Syd’ Burnett (Gabrielle Union, Bad Boys II, Bring It On, Being Mary Jane). Syd, a free-spirited former DEA agent, once took down a drug cartel in Miami, but has left the past behind and is now an LAPD detective.
Her new partner is Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Honey, Valentine’s Day), a working mom who also has a complicated history. She can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some envy.
Carrying over her role as Special Agent Burnett in Bad Boys II, the time comes when Syd is forced to confront how her impenitent lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret.
Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives – all the while taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while dodging the rules and speed limits,
They give a good run for money to the male leads of police action films like Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and Beverly Hills Cop.
Investigate all 13 episodes from the first season in this four-disc DVD set. Watch them chasing a dangerous serial killer, who is killing people while on social media sites, looking into the murder of a helicopter pilot that might be connected to a robbery crew and trying to solve the brutal murder of a transgender woman.
Alba and Union work well together, with a spontaneous chemistry that adds sincerity to their comical timing!
