Here is one big, spooky supernatural action thriller. What’s more, Megan Fox’s character is quite dark, and she’s in control of everything. All this makes sense, since she is playing a crime boss named Alana Hart.
The story itself is a reimagining of the classic Bonnie and Clyde story, following two serial killers in love – and on the run. When they make the risky decision to rob a popular casino, things take a turn for the worse.
Directed by Tom DeNucci (Vault, Army of the Damned) from a screenplay co-written with Nick Principe (Laid to Rest), Johnny & Clyde starts off as a crime/heist picture. Principe says he doesn’t want to give away too much, but “visually we wanted her [Fox] to almost be like a Disney princess, but a messed up, very dark, twisted version of that. Her look is just incredible … this kind of almost evil princess character. I went into a weird kind of Disney path.”
Two serial killers (Avan Jogia, Zombieland: Double Tap, and Ajani Russell, Betty) are madly in love and on a seemingly endless crime spree. They ultimately set their sights on robbing a prosperous casino run by a crime boss, Alana (Megan Fox, Till Death, Rogue: Jennifer’s Body), and guarded by Guy (Tyson Ritter) her head of security – a demonic slayer that she commands.
Along with Fox, other film stars include Vanessa Angel (Kingpin), Bai Ling, Tyson Ritter (Preacher), Robert LaSardo (The Mule), Armen Garo (The Departed), Sean Ringgold (American Gangster), Brett Azar (Young Rock), Sydney Jenkins (Don’t Look Up) and Charles W. Harris III (Glass).
