The Western Australian branch of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) has launched its 2019 public sector awards for excellence.
Over the years the IPAA Achievement Awards have established themselves as the pinnacle of celebration for public sector excellence in the State.
They are the only awards ceremony in Western Australia to recognise both individual and organisational achievements across the public sector (Federal, State and Local Government) as well as the not-for-profit and academic areas.
There are a total of 15 Awards, 10 open to individuals and five best practice awards for organisations.
A new award for Best Practice in Public Sector Evaluation has been introduced for organisations which have completed an evaluation of a public sector program/policy or developed an evaluation strategy in the past year, or can demonstrate outcomes achieved in the past year resulting from a previous study or existing strategy.
The awards reward leadership at five separate levels: Leader of the Year in State or Federal Government; Local Government; Not for Profit Sector; working within a division/team/ rganisation, and Young Leader.
Four awards are for Best Practitioner in the Public Service in the areas of Human Resource Management; Information Technology; Policy and Finance are also presented for Best Practice in Collaboration between Government and Non-Government Organisations; across Government Agencies; Corporate Social Values, and Health and Wellbeing.
The major award is the Patrons’ Award, nominated by the IPAA WA Council, the highest accolade in public administration in Western Australia.
Current Individual or Corporate members of the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA can nominate an individual or organisation per the nomination criteria.
Any employee or organisation (as applicable) that works in Western Australia in any tier of the Public Service including Local, State, or Federal Government, the not-for-profit and academic sectors, can be nominated for an award.
