IP Australia has launched a new IP data platform to enable researchers, practitioners and policy-makers to investigate and interrogate Intellectual Property (IP) information.

In a statement, IP Australia said its Intellectual Property Data Platform enabled researchers, practitioners and policy-makers to investigate the data in a powerful cloud-based analytical environment helping them make decisions and create economic and policy insights involving IP rights, trade and innovation.

“The IP Data Platform currently contains all Australian IP data which is available through IP Government Open Data and IP Longitudinal Research Data, and international data on patents and trade marks,” the Agancy said.

“Researchers can compare data within and across these data collections and add their own to generate deeper economic insights and help improve data-driven decisions.”

It said its TM-Link dataset was the newest addition to the IP platform and contained trade mark data from Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“TM-Link provides the ability to link data at the unit level (individual application level), which has not previously been available, and to compare these data with external datasets, for example industry and trade data, for the first time,” it said.

“Over the coming months, we will be working internationally to expand our data and generate new reports that highlight insights and help make data more accessible.”

The new data platform can be accessed on the IP Australia website at this PS News link.
