Public comment has been invited on a new policy aimed at encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to tender for ACT Public Service contracts.
Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Rachel Stephen-Smith said the policy will give support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises in the ACT who wish to compete for government work and would remove barriers to their participation in Government procurement.
Ms Stephen-Smith said the Government had already held targeted face-to-face conversations with bodies representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprises and was now seeking feedback from the wider community.
“Input gathered from these discussions will inform a workshop to be held over the coming weeks with participation from enterprises and other interested parties,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.
She said those who wished to nominate to attend a workshop, or provide feedback on the draft policy, should visit the ACT Government YourSay website.
The consultation is open until 17 February with the workshop scheduled to be held in the week of 11 February.
The 18-page draft policy can be accessed at this PS News link and nominations to attend the workshop can be made at this link.
