Gia Darcy is a young singer/songwriter from the NSW central coast who is based in Sydney.

She has made some inroads into the music world via a series of catchy singles that have brought her to the attention of the music press.

Her signature style is a light and breezy indie-pop that is melodically infectious and the lyrics are good too.

Her first single, Tango, highlighted her sweet, smooth vocal style with a hook laden piece of pop, while the second single, Lies, presented a darker and deeper side to her sound and lyricism.

I’m Not Sorry takes that a little further with an anthem about empowerment.

The track exhorts us to be who we are and to not apologise for that but instead be proud.

Gia first came to prominence via Triple J’s DIY Supergroup Challenge with her song Party Of One which reached #10 on the pop charts and 27 th overall.

This led to her follow-up singles gaining airtime, initially on her hometown central coast radio stations and then being added to the mainstream playlists in Sydney.

She’s even been played in London UK, so her star is on the rise.

There is enough variety in her work to suggest that there is a lot more to come; she has a good voice and her presentation is clear.

In some ways she reminds me of Amy Shark, I’m not sure whether it’s her voice or music or a combination of both that brought her to mind but I certainly heard the similarities.

Check out Gia’s clips, she’s good.
