artsACT has encouraged everyone who ever wanted to join a circus to bring their dreams to life by learning some of the skills during the school holidays.
In a statement, the arts Agency said participating in circus was a great way to stay physically active over the school break as well as engage the brain in learning rewarding skills.
“Whether it’s for your five-year-old, or you’re an adult who likes trying unconventional activities, sign up and learn how to juggle, unicycle, or fly high in the air,” artsACT said.
“One-off and week-long sessions at Warehouse Circus are now open for enrolment in entry-level programs, flying trapeze, other intensive training and more.”
artsACT said the Warehouse Circus School Holiday Programs catered to all young people, from those who had never done any circus before up to experienced young circus performers.
“Participants inevitably leave the program feeling fit and having built lasting friendships with other young circus performers,” it said.
“The program includes structured workshops for the development of strength, coordination and specific skills as well as free time.
“Participants can learn a range of different skills including tumbling, mini trampoline, stilt walking, unicycling, rolla bola, hula hooping, juggling, staff or poi twirling, diabolo and the basics of aerial disciplines such as tissue and trapeze.”
It said the Warehouse Circus fostered a co-operative environment rather than a competitive one which aimed to give everyone an opportunity to learn fun skills they can show off with.
