A Transport Canberra bus driver is being hailed a hero after he delivered a lost school student home after the child got on the wrong bus.
The boy’s father said his son had decided to catch the school bus home but had switched to the wrong bus at an interchange.
“After realising the situation, the driver drove all the way to our place to drop him off – completely the other side of town,” the father said.
“That bus driver went above and beyond, and I hope he gets thanked.”
Transport Canberra bus driver, Jeet Gill (pictured) said the child had approached him toward the end of the bus route to explain that he’d caught the wrong bus and didn’t know how to get home.
Mr Gill contacted his Transport Canberra bus base coordinator and asked for permission to drive the child home.
The boy’s father said they were about to call police when the bus arrived outside their house.
“The parents were so glad and thankful,” Mr Gill said.
“It was nice to see that they were happy that their kid was safe.”
