By Michael Jones, Independent 2022.
Michael Jones is a Brisbane based singer/songwriter and Hello World is a song that implores us to take better care of our environment.
The track has been produced by Taxiride founding member and guitarist, Tim Wild who has had a major input to the track.
There’s a distinctly retro ‘60s sound to Hello World with jangly rhythm guitars reminiscent of The Byrds and slide guitar solos that remind us of George Harrison’s work.
Apparently, Tim Wild even mimicked The Beatles by included some backwards guitar.
They also used Rickenbacker guitars and other vintage instruments to capture the sound they were after.
The track could sit perfectly in a best of The Byrds album and not be out of place.
The multi-tracked vocal and harmonies capture The Byrds sound perfectly.
Tim Wild commented’ “my love of vocal harmony led me to write all of those Taxiride songs.”
In addition to producing the track, Tim Wild played all the instruments (except for the drums) and sang the backing vocals.
So, in many ways, despite the fact that Michael Jones wrote the track, Hello World has been a joint venture between Jones and Wild.
Hello World asks questions of the listener and challenges us to love and care for our planet and its people.
It’s a song of hope and optimism, rather than anger and despair.
A questioning of where we stand on this vital issue for the future of our species, and a challenge to take personal responsibility and get out and do something to right the wrongs.
