The Minister for Sport, Yvette Berry has called for expressions of interest (EOIs) from qualified people or organisations to build an ice sports facility in the ACT.
Ms Berry said the requirement is for the successful tenderer to design, construct, own, operate and maintain the new facility.
She said the call for EOIs follows an analysis report into the ACT Ice Sports Facility Options released in late 2018, which explored three options for delivery of a new ice sports facility.
“The EOI requirements have been developed to facilitate the delivery of a new ice sports facility to meet the needs of the community (including local ice sporting groups) while also considering the ongoing commercial viability of the facility through a range of uses including competitions, events and recreational use,” Ms Berry said.
She said interested parties would need to address how they plan to provide essential facility requirements including two individual ice rinks and associated amenities to support local ice sporting groups and recreational use
She said the EOI respondents would also need to provide appropriate seating, spectator and associated amenities in a facility that would host local, regional, national and appropriately sized international events.
