The one event of the awards ceremonies that will put a joyous feeling in our souls and make us forget all our trivial complaints about anything at all is the ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards.
It is a celebration and awarding of recognition for those who endeavour to include people with disabilities in diverse areas of employment, find ways to involve them in theatre, retail and government entities and make us smile at the enthusiasm of all those involved.
Celebrated at Canberra’s National Museum of Australia, the Awards have become a much anticipated event for those with disability and those who work with them, care for them and encourage them.
The major award winner for 2018 was Rebus Theatre with a program for people with and without disabilities with their Open Doors Open Minds program, an inclusion training project that involved 52 community clubs, organisations and employees of 10 Government Departments in Canberra.
That’s Inclusion at its best and with the growing involvement of so many in this year’s awards we can feel a nice warm and fuzzy feeling for our national capital city.
