Health and Wellbeing Queensland has launched a new initiative aimed at helping people take care of their physical and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisation, which is supported by Queensland Health, has established a digital hub, Boost Your Healthy that provides support, inspiration and ideas to keep people moving, while continuing to slow the spread of Coronavirus.

Health and Wellbeing Queensland said Boost your Healthy focuses on three key areas: Activity, healthy eating and wellbeing.

It said the campaign sought to boost healthy eating, active living and healthy minds across the State by creating an online community for Queenslanders to access practical tips, active challenges and programs that everyone can get involved with.

“You’ll also see some well-known Queenslanders enlisted as ‘Boosters’ to issue a series of challenges to get everyone moving at home,” the Agency said.

“Jeff Horn, Gretel Bueta, Suzie O’Neill and John Millman are just some of the home-grown heroes teaming up to help their fellow Queenslanders through COVID-19,” it said.

Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk said she had asked her Ministers to find new ways to look after the physical and mental wellbeing of Queenslanders during Coronavirus closures.

Minister for Health, Steven Miles said Boost your Healthy included a number of world-class, free Queensland initiatives already making thousands of Queenslanders healthier and avoiding illnesses such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

“Queenslanders have been looking after their health not only by staying inside to flatten the curve, but also by taking up new healthy habits while staying safe indoors,” Mr Miles said.

“Whether it’s dusting off the running shoes, doing workouts in the living room, or making homemade meals from scratch, we’ve taken important steps to keep our minds and bodies healthy,” he said.
