Transport Canberra has invited applications for casual bus drivers to staff its growing fleet.
Senior Manager of Human Resources with Public Transport Operations at Transport Canberra, Katie Dunn said more people than ever were using the buses and as more were added, often on a seven-day network, the need for drivers had increased.
“Applications for casual positions on Transport Canberra’s commuter buses and in the Flexible Transport Mini Bus Unit are now open and will close on 2 September,” Ms Dunn said.
“Casual commuter drivers will be required to work rostered weekend shifts and public holiday shifts,” she said.
“The Flexible Transport Mini Bus drivers will be rostered Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4.30pm.”
She said the response to the recent Come and Try Day aimed at women drivers was overwhelming.
“We booked out well before the event and on the day itself, we received so much interest and positive feedback from the participants who drove the buses that we’re confident it will assist with increasing our gender diversity,” Ms Dunn said.
Executive Director of Public Transport Operations at Transport Canberra, Judith Sturman said the Agency required dedicated, casual bus drivers who exhibited a commitment to customer service and safety.
“Previous bus driving experience is not essential; Transport Canberra will provide comprehensive training for all drivers,” Ms Sturman said.
