Graduate program seeks female intake

The Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO) 2022 Graduate Development Program is now open for applications — with the aim of accepting a 100 per cent female intake.

Chief Markets Officer at AEMO, Violette Mouchaileh said the Operator was taking meaningful steps to further increase female participation in the energy industry with its first-ever, female-dedicated graduate program intake.

“Our organisation and the communities we serve benefit enormously from the contributions of extraordinary women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM),” Ms Mouchaileh said.

“We are taking deliberate actions to focus on improving our gender balance and build teams that more closely represent the communities we operate in — so that we create better outcomes for consumers and make the AEMO a great place to work.”

She said the initiative was part of a broader program of work under way at the AEMO to reach a goal of 40 per cent female representation across the business by 2025 — an increase of 17.5 per cent on the current position.

“This Program is an example of living our value of inclusion, through increasing our female participation, learning from and celebrating a diversity of views, and contributing to gender equity,” Ms Mouchaileh said.

She said successful candidates would be guaranteed three years of tangible experience as they completed nine-month rotations with different departments at the AEMO, obtaining unparalleled experience in an organisation which operated at the heart of the energy sector.

Applications close on 26 September and further information can be accessed at this PS News link.
