A Tasmanian company that specialises in designing and manufacturing premium camera and gimbal accessories for the movie and television industries has been awarded an Advanced Manufacturing Grant from the State Government.
The grant for Ignite Digi was announced by Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries and Minster for the Arts Madeleine Ogilvie, who said the company is proof that innovation paired with targeted government support can lead to success.
“Tasmanian advanced manufacturers are renowned for their creativity and excellence of their products. Finding a niche that pairs two industries together, as Ignite Digi have done crossing Advanced Manufacturing and Creative Industries, is the hallmark of Tasmanian creativity,” she said.
The grant is the third the company has received from the Tasmanian Government, including almost $100,000 from the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant Program, which has now closed.
Ms Ogilvie said the program saw 38 applicants receive $3 million in support, and it is anticipated 212 manufacturing jobs have been generated through it across the state.
Hobart-based Ignite Digi produces advanced accessories and cables compatible with camera and gimbal models like MōVI Pro, Ronin 2, and ALEXA Mini.
“Ignite Digi shows that the Rockliff Liberal Government’s support for innovative Tasmanian small businesses can create world-class products,” Ms Ogilvie said.
“This has a positive impact on building a stronger economy that delivers both jobs and opportunities for Tasmanians,” she added.
“Ignite Digi is a Tasmanian success story and through our Government’s long-term plan to do what matters for all Tasmanians, our small businesses can have the confidence they need to invest in their businesses, expand their operations and create more jobs.”
