It’s been a while since I’ve presented you with an offering from Britain’s Dirty water Records but that’s about to change with two of their recent releases.

Firstly, Londoners The Interests present their debut EP Going Nowhere Fast which was released on the 14th October.

They’re a young (19-year old’s) four-piece band that play a brand of new wave energetic punk/ retro rock crossovers.

Their song writing is remarkably good for such a young and inexperienced band.

The EP opens with It’ll Never Be You, a high tempo new wave song that immediately grabs the listener.

It’s played at a hectic pace that barely leaves space to breathe.

The lyrics talk about government overreach and about questioning authority in general.

Capitulation follows next which is grungier and darker.

It’s a fantastic song and it is followed by the title track, Going Nowhere Fast was written by singer Ben Hunter in McDonald’s during a break in recording.

It’s a slower and more reflective track that talks about the adoration for someone who won’t come back.

The track ends with the sound of a telephone being tapped and then ringing which leads directly into the next track.

Sober presents yet another sound, this time the violin played by guest Marlon Barrios.

Sober, as the name suggests, is the most mellow track on the disc.

The EP ends as it began with an up-tempo flourish.

Feel The Disparity is full of crunchy guitars and heavy bass riffs in an explosion of indie rock.

Apparently, the boys recorded more tracks in the sessions which are awaiting release so we may not have to wait long for a top up if we like what we hear.
