Picture This are an Irish pop/rock band from County Kildare who have been around the Irish music scene since 2015.
Get On My Love is the first single that I’ve heard from them and it’s very good.
The band consists of Ryan Hennessy on vocals, Jimmy Rainsford on drums, Owen Cardiff (guitar), and Cliff Deane on bass.
If Get On My Love is an indication of the quality of their music then they are a real find.
The song is anthemic and instantly singable.
The repeated chorus of ‘Get on my love’ is gospel-like and you can imagine black church congregations singing, swaying, and clapping along to it.
Although I had never heard of the band before this song a quick google search has revealed that they have garnered a devoted following in their homeland.
Their three albums, Picture This (2017), Mdrn Lv (2019), and Life In Colour (2021) reached number one, one, and two respectively in the Irish album charts while the latter two also reached the top 100 in the UK charts.
In addition to this success, they have charted with 34 singles. This is a successful career in anybody’s language.
Twenty-three years into their career the band has also managed to remain intact, which is no mean feat.
They must be a good live act because it’s worth noting that their debut gig at the Grand Social in Dublin sold out in 30 minutes.
To meet the demand the gig was moved to the 850 seat Academy.
And 16 shows on their first tour of Ireland sold out including three shows at the 1,600 seat Olympia in Dublin.
