The Government Employees Superannuation Board (GESB) has set out the latest developments in its 2020 Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which is now halfway through its two-year term.

Declaring that it would formalise its efforts to continue developing and strengthening relationships and meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Board said in a statement that it had plans for the second half of 2021 and beyond.

“In the second half of 2021 and beyond, we have plans to have a member of our Key Account Management team participate in the Jawun Emerging Leaders program in the East Kimberley,” it said.

“We will host a NAIDOC morning tea event, with a Welcome to Country from Kim Collard, a proud Balladong/Wilmen man of the Nyoongar Nation.”

Also proposed were improvements to resources available on the GESB website for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

“We are also developing other forms of proof-of-identification documents for Aboriginal and Torres Islander people,” the GESB said.

Turning to other matters, the GESB said with around 240,000 members and more than $34 billion in funds under management, it was the largest super fund in Western Australia and one of the largest in Australia.

“Our GESB Super, West State Super and Retirement Income Pension products have been awarded with a platinum rating from SuperRatings for 14 consecutive years, which means we’re recognised as being a ‘top value-for-money’ fund,” it said.

“We consistently deliver strong long-term investment returns that meet or exceed our objectives, and our fees are below the industry median,” the GESB said.
