New websites have been launched by the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission and the Youth Coalition of the ACT, detailing information and resources on gambling harm.
The new Gambling and Racing Commission website contains interactive resources for industry and the community, greater visibility of information on gambling harm, as well as being more user-friendly.
The Youth Coalition said it has developed a website aimed at providing greater information to young people aged between 18 and 30 who may have concerns about the gambling activities of themselves, their friends or family.
It said the website, called AtOdds, offers a range of resources to reduce gambling risk-taking among young people and help them make more informed decisions.
The Coalition said the project has been funded through the Problem Gambling Assistance Fund from the Gambling and Racing Commission (GRC).
Chief Executive of GRC, David Snowden said together, the websites provided some important information for the Canberra community.
“We are committed to making a difference by preventing and reducing gambling harm,” Mr Snowden said.
“Information is powerful when it comes to understanding the signs, risks as well as where to get support.”
Director of Policy and Development at the Youth Coalition, Hannah Watts said it was important for young people to have easy access to information about how gambling worked and how it could affect them.
“We know that 18 to 30-year-olds are more likely to experience gambling harm than other age groups, so it’s important for us to feature stories and real-life experiences on our website, giving young people a resource they can really resonate with,” Ms Watts said.
Both websites will continue to evolve with new resources and materials being added progressively over the coming months.
