Transport Canberra is reminding Canberrans they can get to and from their COVID-19 vaccination appointments at ACT Health clinics for free on the Territory’s bus and light rail services.
The reminder came as Chief Minister, Andrew Barr announced expanded vaccination capacity at the AIS Arena mass vaccination centre and the reopening of the airport vaccination hub on Nomad Drive in Pialligo to accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination program.
Mr Barr said the airport hub was expected to reopen on 24 January “to help deliver more boosters more quickly”.
In a statement, Transport Canberra said to access free travel, people needed to show proof of their vaccination booking at an ACT clinic to the driver or customer service officer (upon request).
“Free travel includes family, carers, guardians, support people and children accompanying the person getting vaccinated,” Transport Canberra said.
It said people with bookings at the AIS Arena mass vaccination clinic could use the Rapid 9 (R9) from Dickson and Belconnen interchanges to get to their appointments.
The Directorate said to get to the Airport vaccination clinic, people should catch route R3 from Belconnen Interchange or City Interchange to the Airport Terminal Stop 3353.
“Plan your trip ahead of time using Transport Canberra’s Journey Planner,” it said.
